What is scope leap?
In project management, scope establishes expectations for the project team and the client. These are the boundaries that formalize the deliverables of a project. While scope creep is where features are tacked onto an assignment, “scope leap suggests a fundamental and significant change in the project scope,” says Quest10.
An app developer is working on a simple household expense tracking app for a client. While scope creep may mean adding on a feature like an in-app budgeting journal at the behest of a client, scope leap could mean adding on a stock investment tool, for example. This feature would be outside the remit of the project’s initial scope and represent a significant change in direction.
